Front and Centered has been collaborating with researchers and practitioners on climate and environmental justice research projects that will be announced this year:

1) An environmental justice map of Washington State that overlays population vulnerabilities, like health and income, with environmental burdens, like toxics and air quality, to identify risk; a project with the University of Washington Department of Health Sciences in collaboration with the Washington State Departments of Ecology and Health, and Puget Sound Clean Air Agency.

2) A report assessing the state of knowledge and needs for further research on equity and climate impacts in Washington State; a project with the Climate Impacts Group,  University of Washington Department of Health Sciences, and Urban@UW; sponsored by the Seattle Foundation

In 2017 Front and Centered supported grassroots community listening sessions in communities of color, like farmworkers, Indigenous people, Latino youth, Asian Pacific Islander elders, and many others that informed this work.

Join us on February 21st to learn about these projects and hear directly from communities about how they are experiencing climate change and pollution and what it means for them, their families and communities.
