New Economy Washington Frontline Community Fellowship

New Economy Washington Frontline Community Fellowship

Greetings from Front and Centered & the People’s Economy Lab!

We are excited to announce that applications are open for the New Economy Washington (NEW) Frontline Community Fellowship!

If you or someone you know is an emerging leader of color who is building a new economic model that  changes the underlying conditions of our economy and restores self-determination to BIPOC (Black Indigenous People of Color) communities facing legacies of injustice and you are looking to grow your vision, consider applying to the NEW Frontline Community Fellowship.

The NEW Frontline Community Fellowship is a 15-month opportunity for individuals and  organizations from communities of color on the frontlines of the COVID-19 crisis who are leading projects and campaigns for a just, transformative, and regenerative economic recovery. As a NEW Frontline Community Fellow, you can experiment in building a new economy that centers and empowers BIPOC communities through your Fellowship project. We are looking for strong leaders with the backing of their communities who are interested in advancing experimental concepts or early stage planning efforts to fully developed projects and campaigns.

We invite you to apply if you have a powerful idea or active project to make systemic change in our economy and you are interested in getting support and being part of a cohort of others with aligned visions and shared values. The COVID-19 pandemic and Black Lives Matter movement force us all to recognize that systemic change is a necessity not an option. Tell us about the systemic problem you are working to address and why it’s important. Describe how you want to transform the economy and which communities you are serving and centering.

Here are some of the benefits you’ll receive as a NEW Frontline Community Fellow:

  • Grant of up to $40,000
  • Participation in a cohort that offers:
    • Customized project support
    • Access to technical experts
    • Peer learning
    • Relationship building
    • Professional development
    • PR & networking opportunities
    • Access to funder networks

Applications close on August 31, 2020!
