Live from Egypt! Podcast gives on-the-ground updates from COP27

You might have got (renewable) wind of the huge climate meeting going on in Egypt right now and are wondering what’s going on? We’ve got you covered! Since our collective work is local to global, Crash #COP27 is a podcast connecting frontline communities from Washington to the Global South and worldwide, with regular updates from Sharm El Sheik, Egypt where the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference is happening November 6-18, 2022.

Just like in 20221, Edgar and Jill are at it again! Edgar Franks of our member organization Familias Unidas por la Justicia, an independent farmworker union, joined a delegation of workers and environmental justice leaders to give frontline communities in Washington a voice at this annual meeting and strategize with advocates from around the globe. Throughout #COP27, Edgar will connect with Jill Mangaliman, community organizer and a founding Front and Centered board member, to discuss climate justice and share stories, struggles, and solutions of frontline communities

“When high-level government officials meet at resorts with corporate negotiators, the result is always profit over people and status quo agreements that are too weak and too slow to protect our planet. True climate solutions will only come from powerful, unified, grassroots pressure. Our delegation will join with other local communities and workers to confront global leaders, help redefine climate leadership, keep false solutions off the table, and lift up the real solutions we need.”

Their Crash #COP27 conversations are posted along with their new podcast, ON THE FRONTLINES, a community program featuring stories of social, climate, and economic justice. Scroll down the page to listen to the first few dispatches from Crash #COP27, Season 1 of ON THE FRONTLINES, plus see photos and short videos from Edgar, taking you inside the COP27 pavilions and into the streets for rallies, like this one about how the prison system is a form of extraction. And, wait, did Edgar just bump into the father of environmental justice Dr. Robert Bullard?!

In addition to being available on our website, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify, Crash #COP27 is collaborating with Rainier Avenue Radio, a South Seattle community-based internet radio station, which will broadcast Crash #COP27 episodes.

If you dig the podcasts, please share ON THE FRONTLINES through social media via Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter
